WebP to TIFF Converter

Convert WebP images to uncompressed TIFF files directly in your browser. Batch process graphics for print and archival workflows with zero server uploads.

1Drop your images here

JPG, PNG, WebP, AVIF, GIF, BMP, ICO, TIFF, HEIC, SVG · up to 50 files

Tips

  • WebP files decode through your browser engine, extracting only the first frame from animated files.
  • TIFF output writes uncompressed raster data, making it ideal for desktop publishing but resulting in larger files.
  • Transparent WebP pixels render as solid white upon export, so flatten your canvas over a specific background beforehand if needed.

How to use it

  1. 1 Select or drag and drop your WebP image files into the queue.
  2. 2 Review the queued files to ensure all source images are ready for processing.
  3. 3 Download your converted TIFF files individually or save the entire batch at once.

What you should know

WebP excels at reducing bandwidth for modern web browsing, but commercial printing presses, desktop publishing systems, and digital archival repositories often demand Tagged Image File Format (TIFF) files. TIFF stores raw raster image data with broad support across prepress RIP software, specialized document imaging systems, and offline archival software. While WebP relies on lossy discrete cosine transform or lossless predictive coding to compress file sizes, TIFF preserves uncompressed 24-bit RGB raster arrays. Converting web-optimized graphics to TIFF ensures full interoperability with legacy print pipelines and high-end graphic design workflows that reject modern web image formats.

This tool decodes incoming WebP files using local browser rendering and encodes the pixel data into standard, uncompressed TIFF files. The entire conversion happens in your browser tab without transmitting your media over the network. Batch conversion allows you to process multiple images simultaneously and download them individually or as a complete archive. Note that uncompressed TIFF files will be significantly larger in file size than the source WebP images. Additionally, animated WebP files are converted as static images using only the opening frame, and transparent alpha channels are automatically flattened against a solid white background.

Frequently asked questions

Why is the output TIFF file much larger than the original WebP?

WebP uses aggressive predictive compression to minimize data size for web delivery, whereas standard TIFF output generates uncompressed bitmap pixel arrays. This lack of compression restores raw pixel grids required by prepress software but substantially increases the file size.

Does this converter support animated WebP files?

Browser-based canvas decoders capture only the initial frame of an animated WebP file. The output TIFF will be a single static image corresponding to that first frame.

What happens to transparency during conversion?

Standard TIFF encodings produced by canvas workflows do not preserve transparent alpha layers. Any transparent areas in your source WebP will be rendered as solid white in the exported TIFF file.
