What you should know
Online storefronts and digital marketplaces enforce strict image dimension standards. For instance, Shopify recommends 2048x2048 square images, while Trendyol, the largest marketplace in Turkey, requires 1200x1800 portrait assets, and Hepsiburada expects 1500x1500 square files. Uploading the wrong aspect ratio causes platforms to crop subjects or reject files entirely. Downscaling high-resolution camera originals preserves detail while significantly shrinking byte size and web load times. Conversely, upscaling small bitmaps forces resampling algorithms to invent pixels, leading to visible softness and blur. Standardizing dimensions beforehand ensures consistent display across all product listings.
This tool processes batches of images simultaneously in your browser using local canvas rendering. You can define custom width and height parameters, scale strictly by the longest edge, or lock one dimension to let the other adjust proportionately. You can retain the original file extension or transcode the batch into JPG, PNG, or WebP to optimize compression. EXIF orientation tags are read and applied so vertical phone photos remain upright. Processing occurs in client memory without uploading files to remote servers, handling up to 50 images per batch based on available system RAM.
Measured output sizes
Test file: a 4000×3000 landscape photo, already saved as a 1.61 MB JPEG. Run in Chrome 154 on a desktop PC using the presets and the output format selector; JPG and WebP are written at quality 0.85, PNG is lossless. Each file took between 0.15 and 0.4 seconds.

- The 1600 px preset is the sweet spot for a web image: 427 KB as JPG, 74% below the 1.61 MB original, against 708 KB at 2000 px.
- WebP came out 14 to 18% smaller than JPG at every preset, from 609 KB against 708 KB at 2000 px to 97 KB against 114 KB at 800 px.
- Picking PNG for a photo undoes the resize. At 2000 px it is 5.90 MB, more than three times the source file, and it only drops below the original at the 800 px preset.
- Halving the long edge from 1600 px to 800 px left the JPG at 114 KB, about a quarter of 427 KB, because the pixel count falls with the square of the edge.
Frequently asked questions
Does enlarging an image reduce visual quality?
Yes. Upscaling a smaller image forces the browser to interpolate missing pixels, creating a blurry or pixelated result. Always downscale from a high-resolution source file whenever possible.
Which image dimensions should I choose for e-commerce listings?
